NRM
The National Railway Museum

55002 never went on the Doncaster scrap lines. In the 1980's it was selected by the NRM as a candidcate for the collection. It was repainted into two tone green while in service, it also had a yellow nose to comply with current safety regulations. On the 30th December 1981 it was withdrawn from service and had the power units from 55014 put into her. It was then given to the National Railway Muesum to be put onto display for the public to see. After several years being in the museum at York 55002 was released to operate on preserved lines but only if the drivers have sufficient skill and experience to handle the deltic.
